Ten years gone by!

Ten years since you were gone. Still you linger in my thoughts as the morning breeze and a silent inspiration.

You had a minor cold which led to throat infection and then you could not eat appropriately and probably had stomach upset. I insisted on iv fluid supplementation with the hope that some nourishment will help you get through this episode. The doctor at the hospital needed persuasion as a day earlier you were sent back with minor drugs in prescription.  When admitted you were given medicines and iv fluids and seemed to improve. But the night brought the catastrophe! You had a cardiac arrest and were revived from it and put on ventilator. Then it was a rapid downhill course. By next day evening we lost you a few hours after Parul and I saw you and barely sometime before your youngest son, Vivek, could reach you. I still remember requesting the doctor to keep you breathing and keep the heart beating with the help of ventilator and pacemaker so that Vivek could meet you. But it was not meant to be!

We all miss you. I particularly miss you not only for your qualities and love for us but also how forgivingly you put up with all my stupidities. And yes, I know now how it feels to be the parent of a girl child in India. But do you know the country is changing and its girls too. I have learnt a lot of things from my daughter too which no one could teach me earlier. By the way your granddaughter Nikita is admitted in Singapore University for graduation. And Arjun has grown into a smart, intelligent young boy! They both love you too and often see you in pics and smile with the rest of us!

Stay happy, wherever you are!

Love you! And miss you!
